Two brand new plays for the theatre, staged and filmed for a digital run.

We are delighted to introduce the writers of our two Emergence plays,
Anita Vettesse and Oliver Emanuel

Anita Vettesse
Anita is a regular writer for BBC’s River City and currently writer in residence at National Theatre of Scotland as part of the John Mather Trust Award. Her other work includes: Falling for BBC Radio Drama and You Really Got Me Going as part of The Break for BBC Three.
Her theatre work includes: Ringroad (best new play nomination at The Critics Theatre Awards); Happy Hour and From The Air for Oran Mor; Melvin Bragg Made me do it for Paines Plough Theatre Company; News Just In/Hostage Taker for Random Accomplice; Eddie and The Slumber Sisters for Catherine Wheels/National Theatre of Scotland. She co-wrote a new musical Bingo, for Stellar Quines /Grid Iron Theatre Company that toured in Spring 2018 and is on the writing team of BBC Radio Four’s  This Thing of Darkness which she co-created.

Oliver Emanuel
Oliver is an international award-winning playwright based on the west coast of Scotland. He has written over 30 plays for both stage and radio. Theatre includes: The 306: Trilogy – Dawn, Day & Dusk; Dragon and The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish for the National Theatre of Scotland; The Monstrous Heart for the Traverse; Flight for Vox Motus; Titus for Red Bridge Arts; Prom for Oran Mor/Traverse/Lemon Tree.
Radio includes: When The Pips Stop, The Truth About Hawaii, A History of Paper, Emile Zola: Blood Sex & Money for BBC Radio 4. Awards include: Tinniswood Award 2019, Best Series at the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2019, Herald Angel 2017, Best Adaptation at the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2016, The People’s Choice Victor Award at IPAY 2015, Best Show for Children at the UK Theatre Awards in 2014. Oliver founded the MLitt in Playwriting & Screenwriting at the University of St Andrews with Zinnie Harris. His plays are published by Oberon Books.
